Poetry-in-the-Round Hosts Acclaimed Fiction Writer and Guggenheim Fellow Jenny Offill  

Jenny Offill 320 picPoetry-in-the-Round hosts acclaimed fiction writer Jenny Offill on Thursday, December 6 at 6 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge of the University Center.

Jenny Offill, acclaimed fiction writer and recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, will read from her work. She is the author of two novels, Department of Speculation (Knopf, 2014) and Last Things (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1999). Department of Speculation was chosen as one of The New York Times’s top ten books of 2014 and named a notable or best book of the year by The Village Voice and The Guardian. It was shortlisted for the Pen/Faulkner Award and the Folio Award and named a finalist for the Los Angeles Times First Book Award. Her short fiction has appeared in Epoch, Boulevard, and Electric Literature. She will be a writer-in-residence at Vassar College in 2019.

The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.

About the Series:
Poetry-in-the-Round has brought some of the best contemporary writers from around the world to Seton Hall University for the past three decades. Some of those visitors have included Joyce Carol Oates, E.L. Doctorow, Nadine Gordimer, C.K. Williams, Jamaica Kincaid, Karen Russell, Ben Lerner, Kaitlyn Greenidge, Jonathan Franzen, John Ashbery, Russell Banks, Adrienne Rich, and many others. The series has worked to bring established and up-and-coming new writers to the attention of Seton Hall students and the community.
